This past weekend the Rub Club's Lansing Chapter gained a new member in Cathy Illman. Her inductive piece is a love poem in brown to her perennial beloved, JP.

Made August 7th, 2004, these are the rubs that started it all. Corey and I had arrived in Winslow, Arizona 8 hours too early for the dinner we were supposed to go to. When boredom set in after only an hour and a half we knew that the only thing to do was create Rub Club. The following selections are highlights from that rub session currently being stored in the Tucson Rub Archive

If only I had known. I will start off the postings on this community not with a triumphant tale of rubbings well rubbed, but with a cheerless tale of textures left untouched. Matt and Bethany Eva and I spent last weekend in the Pinaleno Mts. At the Shannon campground where we stayed there was an exquisite relief carving that looked as if it was began with the intention to be a Smokey the Bear type character, but when the artist reached the face, the area that we all know either makes or breaks a good likeness of "the bear", the difficulties of the medium became to great for our poor artist and the carving turned into a Smokey the Troll type thing. Only know do I realize the opportunity that I missed. Be forewarned! There are great rubbings to be made in the mighty Pinalenos!
